Cinco de Mayo Success

Capitol Hill - Cinco De Mayo 0

I want to thank everyone who contributed to our first Cinco de Mayo en Calle Dos Cinco.

It was intended to be a mostly outdoor event with music, games, food in the parking lot. Although heavy rain spoiled those initial plans, with a little ingenuity and determination, it was still a successful event.

The Tango PR crew got a stage and sound system set up and Capitol Hill library, OCCC Capitol Hill Center, Pouring Art Ceramics, and Huebert Brewery all pitched in to move their activities inside the Old Nag Station. There were games, flower-making, a face painter, caricature artist, Energy FC players, Thunder Girls, and local Hispanic art on display. Talented musicians played and the folkloric dancers entertained beautifully. Outside, the Energy beer trailer and food trucks parked along Hudson with tents to shelter their customers. The once vacant building was alive with activity and excitement!

It was great to see so many come together to produce another good community event, which is sure to help promote more positive growth in the district.

Thanks again to all our friends and supporters!
